Honda CG125 (250) 1989

This is the family hack, we've had it for years.

Occasionaly a manufacturer comes up with a design that is more of less fool proof. This is what Honda did with the CG125. The engine is a simple OHV single using a high camshaft keeping the pushrods short. These engines will run for years with little or no maintenance.

Mine is a 1989 CG125BR-J, made in Brazil.

The original engine was replaced with a CG125E unit after it wrecked itself - twice!

After years of hard work the engine was again replaced with a 150cc unit and in the winter of 2017/18 a 250 unit was rebuilt and fitted.

This is the scrap engine after a clean down.

One total rebuild later.

250 unit fitted and ready for it's initial shake down.

2020 and all is good.

This is in regular use taking me to and from work, also during the winter it's my main bike.
